Welcome Back!!! A late post today but better laten than never right?! I didn’t really know what to post today and then suddenly I realised it was Mickey’s 88th Birthday. 88 years ago today he made his first appearance in Steamboat Willy and since that day he has made millions of people smile and create memories with their friends and families worldwide. I’ve already celebrated this day over on Instagram and captioned that I don’t think Walt realised when creating Mickey Mouse, firstly known as Mortier, that he would have such an impact on so many lives.

“when Walt created Mickey Mouse I don’t think he realised how much joy you and your gang would bring to kids and adults a like”

Walt, Mickey Mouse and the entire Disney franchise has been a part of my life since I was 6 weeks old, when I took my first trip to Disneyland Paris and Disney will continue to be part of my life forever more. If I didn’t have Disney is my life, I don’t know who I would be. I’ve learnt so many life lessons from every Disney film and I truly wish I could thank Walt personally for everything he has brought into my life.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICKEY MOUSE!!!! 88 years young!!

Want to celebrate Mickey’s birthday? Jam out to “What We Got (Mickeys Birthday Song) by Tony Ferrari. This song has been on repeat all day today and I even jammed out to it on Snapchat. (I’ve been thinking about making my Snapchat public, let me know if you would like that?)

So, just a quick post today to let all my readers know that today is a special day for me, as it’s a day where I can truly appreciate 2 of the most important men in my life…Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse, apart from Tom and my dad of course. So I’ll end this blog post with my favourite quote from Walt….

“I hope that we don’t loose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse”.

Happy Birthday Mickey.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel

P.S. I’ll be back tomorrow and Sunday with fashion and beauty related posts. Sorry I’ve been kind of inactive, hate only posting 3 times a week, but uni is so full on. To keep up to date with me, be sure to follow me on twitter and instagram.

My NEW Bullet Journal | Sitting In The Clouds

Welcome Back!!! I’m starting uni on Monday…OMG!!! I can’t believe it’s come around so fast. My last day at my internship is tomorrow and I’m so sad to be leaving such a great bunch of people that have made me feel so welcome and have allowed me to truly find my passion in life. I can’t thank them enough.

So I thought with starting a new chapter in my life, I should start a new bullet journal to represent that chapter. I adored my old bullet journal, the blue soft cover Moleskin, dotted so I went for another Moleskin. This time I opted for a black hard cover, just because I think it will be more durable commuting into London everyday, dotted…again

Of course I had to add my own personal touch to the front. I stuck down a postcard of Walt Disney [my no.1 inspiration in life] and added a gold washi tap around to act like a border. I love it.

On the opening page, I just designed a cute quote I found a while back and really liked. When I open my bullet journal now I see this and it just helps me to remember your life may not be going great but you can always look on the brighter side of things.

[“when you look at a field of dandelions, you can either see hundred weeds or hundred wishes”]

Starting a brand new bullet journal meant I could just incorporate everything I loved from my old bullet journal and scrap everything I wasn’t such a massive fan of. This is how the month of September came out…

With starting Uni I thought it would be a good idea to bring back the monthly spreads and so far so good. I’m really liking having somewhere to save dates further in advance than just weekly spreads.

Of course I colour code because I feel it keeps me so much more organised. You can see my key down in the right hand corner. I also have a box on the bottom left had side to put any events that I know I have planned for the next month enabling me to plan even further in advance. I’m really like how it’s working at the moment. Fingers crossed I will stay a fan.

Since starting weekly spreads in my bullet journal they have evolved quite a bit. I’m loving my new layout at the moment as it enables me to track my habits within the spread. I found in pre-September [July\August], I just really wasn’t turning to my monthly habit tracker like I used to. So I came up with a layout in my weekly spreads to incorporate the main habits I wanted to track [blogging, reading, awake by 9am, bed by 1030pm,graphics]. So far this is working really well for me and I’m liking that I can track my habits without having to turn to a completely different page in my bullet journal. Of course I’m still colour coding [monday – turquoise, tuesday – pink, wednesday – blue, thursday – light green, friday – fuchsia, saturday – dark green, sunday – purple]

Having a new weekly layout enabled me to have more space for my notes and next week sections with have come a life-saver with all the things I need to remember to do before starting uni. I also still love tracking my tv shows at the bottom of each daily column and my water intake.

Other than keeping my monthly and weekly spreads in my bullet journal, I try and keep to a more minimalistic feel when it comes to collections. The few collections I have in my bullet journal now are my “blog ideas” and my “tv shows”. I’m currently watching iZombie and Once Upon A Time on Netflix so I like knowing what episode I’m on with each. I would love to bring back my “movies” tracker though because I loved that collection in my old bujo.

Now, here’s a quick peek at my October monthly layout…

I stuck with the same sort of theme as I found it really worked out for me in September.

A very simplistic bullet journal this time around as I’ve learnt what works and doesn’t work for me. I’m loving it so far as it really does do everything I want it to, a place to hold my to-dos, reminds me of upcoming dates/deadlines and allows me to be creative.

Do you have a bullet journal? How do you use the system? Let me know.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel

P.S. Blog posts may become less regular at the moment as uni will be starting shortly and I’m not sure on my schedule yet. Be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram for updates.

DISNEY Haul | Sitting In The Clouds

Welcome Back!!! If you didn’t know..and if you didn’t, you’ve been living under a rock, I went to Walt Disney World with my family and my boyfriend (check out my blog post all about it here)at the end of August and I had the most amazing time. But without collecting multiple ‘Disney Park” bags on your trip have you really used your time in Disney wisely? The answer is no. Part of the Disney experience is shopping, whether that’s in the parks waiting for thunderstorms to pass by or down in Disney Springs for a chill out evening. So that’s exactly what I did.

(This haul won’t be including any of the clothes I brought because I thought…why don’t drag out the Disney blog posts for longer and make a haul dedicated to the clothes I got)

The first night we headed to World of Disney and this giant Stitch caught my eye instantly and I knew it was coming home with me. Tom very kindly got the giant Stitch plush for me as you actually can’t get this size of Stitch toy in the UK. And the question I always get when I show him to people is “how did you get it home?”… I took it on the plane of course. No, but seriously there was no issue with carrying it onboard, I just stored him in the overhead locker for the flight.

The stitch in front of the giant one I already owned and took with me but because I have the old design of Stitch, it actually fits into costumes that are meant for Duffy. I have a Sully costume for him so why not get a Pluto one for him too? Tom also very kindly got this one for me as well. I’m one lucky lady.

Walt Disney is my inspiration so it wasn’t a hard decision to pick up this beautiful poster of him from Art of Disney with one of my favourite quotes of his.

“I hope we don’t loose sight of one thing, it all started with a mouse”

I used to love Pin Trading, collecting the cheaper ones and trading with Cast Members. But now I’m older I just love collecting ones I like and having them as keep sakes. I was on a mission this trip to find pins of my favourite characters (Stitch, if you couldn’t tell and Baymax). The castle one actually opens up and inside is a photo of Walt Disney with his quote:

“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”

And the last one I got was a 2016 one just to remember the year I went for the first time with my boyfriend.

I saw this mug the very first day in our hotel gift shop and fell in love. During the holiday, every time I saw it, I picked it up and stared at it’s beauty. On the very last day, Tom treated me once again and brought it for me.

Oh, just a side note…I collect mugs, I love them!

We were heading out of Epcot one evening and to shelter from the rain for a bit, we of course went into “World Traveler’s”. I spotted this necklace and brought it instantly. I didn’t really think about it at the time, it just caught my eye so I got it. I’m so happy I did buy it, I love it and I’ve worn it every single day since getting it.

Now onto the things I got in Universal and more specifically Harry Potter World.

Of course I had to get a wand. I already have Luna Lovegood’s, my favourite female character, from the Harry Potter studios so I knew I wanted my favourite male characters wand from Harry Potter World. So that’s what I did, I got Lupins. Well, Tom got it for me. He’s truly amazing and spoilt me so much this trip.

I also got a Gringotts bank note because why not?!

The final non-clothing item I got…well Tom got me, I see a recurring pattern, was these beautiful Hufflepuff magnetic bookmarks. Yes, I’m a Hufflepuff.

Bonus points if you can tell what books are modelling the bookmarks…haha!!

Just thought I’d throw these purchases in this haul. I got these two beautiful hardback Moleskin notebooks in Gatwick airport. The black one was originally just black (squared) but I customised it when I got home and it’s now my new bullet journal. The Toy Story one (lined) was limited edition so I had to pick it up. I have no idea what I’m going to use it for yet.

So that’s it. I would say my bank account took a real hit but it looks like Tom did more damage. I’m so grateful for Tom getting me all these amazing souvenirs, he’s truly amazing. I’m also so immensely grateful to my parents for paying for a once in a lifetime trip that I will never forget.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel
