Day Trip To Kew Gardens (+OOTD) | Tea Talk #7 | Sitting In The Clouds

It hit 23 degrees today in London…aka flipping boiling for the UK. The sunglasses came out, as well as the suncream. Ice cream vans music played and it truly felt like summer. My mum and I took advantage of this lovely weather as living in the UK you never know when the glorious weather will go into hiding and winter will be upon us once again, by visiting Kew Gardens.

For university I have to create a poster advertising Kew Gardens so the main focus of the trip was to get inspiration for my design. However, I’m also taking a photography class this semester so it was a great location to practice my photography. Even though this trip was primarily for university, it turned into a lovely mother, daughter day. We had a lovely lunch, sitting back and enjoying the sun. We of course stopped off in Starbucks and picked up some refreshing drinks to combat the heat and just had a lovely bonding session.

Please bare in mind I’m still learning the basics of photography and I have a long way to go.

Out of over 100 photos taken those are my three favourites. I just love doing depth of field photos.

While having a nice stroll and not following the map we came across this bear that had been carved out of an old tree stump and I think I’m going to be basing my poster off this as it’s so unique.

WARNING! Today wasn’t the day for skinny jeans but nevertheless I really liked the outfit I chose, it had a very summery vibe. I chose my really comfy shoes, my Ugg Treadlites as I knew today was a day of walking and of course a pair of sunglasses.

I did bring a leather jacket as we headed out of the house at around 9:30 in the morning but I took it off as soon as we got to the gardens and didn’t wear it once after.

Today was so much fun and the weather was just fantastic. If you enjoyed this type of blog post let me know by liking and commenting so I know whether to do similar in the future. I would also love your opinion on whether you would want me to include more of my graphic design and photography projects on my blog? Let’s chat in the comments.

If you are based in the UK, I hope you had a lovely weekend enjoying the sunshine and making the most of it.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel

Welcome Back!!! I absolutely adore writing monthly wrap ups and reflecting on the month just been so I’m back here for my September monthly moments. Of course the main thing to happen this month was being at Walt Disney feels like months ago I came back, I can’t believe it was only just under 4 weeks. Although we started our holiday in August, we landed back in the UK on September 5th so I decided to include it in todays post.

It was the most surreal yet magical experience of my life so far. Being in the my favourite place in the world (Disney has a lot of meaning and sentimental value for me) with my favourite person was amazing. I’ve been on a lot of Disney holidays which I’m so grateful for but this one has to top the rest by miles. It was truly the ultimate Disney experience.

All About The MagicDisney Haul

Reflecting back on the month as I sit at my desk writing this post, I really didn’t get up to much this month. I look at the month just gone and Disney is always the first thing that pops into my head. Going to Disney in August means my sister gets to celebrate a lot of her birthdays there, which I will always be jealous of. However, when we returned home, we had a little party for her and even though she’s 22, she still likes to have a theme. Pineapple and Flamingos it was.

My sister, my two younger cousins and I surrounded by yet another one of my mums master pieces.

Although September saw the beginning of Autumn/Fall, the weather is still on our side. You can tell it’s autumn, colder mornings with my car heater on full blast to warm myself up on the drive to work but the days are full of blue skies and sunshine. I’m trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

Then the time came to visit the sets of FRIENDS. Another great experience that I will treasure forever. I have a whole blog post on it full of pictures, take a closer look here.

But other than that, I just chilled at home, spent my days at work, reading and soaking up Netflixs and DisneyLife. Tom got me watching Star Wars after out trip to Disney, I have to say I loved the first one, we have yet to watch the next but I’m sure I’ll love it.

Snapchat filters are my life.

So that was my September. Not that exciting but enjoyable nevertheless. I can’t wait for October. I have some really exciting events to look forward to, for example THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 7 is back !!!!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful September and are enjoying every moment of life, whatever it may bring you. Bring on October for halloween and everything scary and spooky.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel

September OOTW | 19th – 25th | Sitting In The Clouds

Welcome Back!!! Today’s blog post brings a “first ever”…everyone gasp. I’ve done outfit posts before but I’ve never done a whole week worth of outfits in one. I had this blog post in mind this past week when planning my outfits so I did try but like every girl, somedays I couldn’t be bothered with my outfit so just threw on a t-shirt and my favourite pair of jeans.

Monday saw just another week starting and another day in the office. However, on Mondays, I feel like you need to try a little harder with your outfit so people don’t think you’ve been a slob the entire weekend and lived in your pjs, which I won’t lie is usually me.

SHOES: white vans

Tuesday saw yet another day in the office. I’m currently interning as a graphic designer so as long as we dress “smart casual” and I’m not going to lie, sometimes I push that boundary, we can get away with any outfit.

TOP: uniqlo (I got it in Disney Springs)
JEANS: topshop
JACKET: primark
SHOES: brown vans (I love vans, could you tell?)

Wednesday. I told you I push the boundaries of “smart casual”. My favourite baseball tee from my recent trip from Disney, classic black jeans and my UGG trainers, it’s defiantly leaning towards the casual side of smart casual. But sat at a desk all day, I just want to be comfy.

JEANS: topshop
SHOES: ugg

Thursday gave me a days break from the office as I had my first hospital appointment to attend after getting back from Disney and because my brain is functionally so well, I decided to dress smarter for hospital than I did for work the day before, makes no sense at all. (a few outfit pieces have been repeated here but they create an entire different outfit, that’s why I love the basics)

JEANS: topshop
JACKET: my sisters wardrobe? (its actually from
topshop and I will defiantly be picking up my own)
HEADBAND: forever 21
SHOES: white vans

I think Friday should be renamed the most casual day in the office. Another really simple outfit this day. One of my favourite t-shirts, paired with my all time favourite jeans, the Joni jeans from Topshop.

SHOES: uggs

Finally it’s the weekend but I didn’t photograph Saturdays outfit because to be truthful, I was shooting all the pictures you see above and after I had done, all I wanted to do was change into my boyfriends trackies and my pj top, so that’s what I did.

However, Sunday saw Tom and I attend FRIENDSFEST (I will have entire blog post on it). We are both major fans of the show. I was luckily enough to attend the first one held in London for a few days last year but as soon as I heard it announced for this year, I just had to get tickets again. This is what I wore…of course I had to wear FRIENDS merch

JEANS: topshop
SHIRT: forever 21
SHOES: converse

What did you think? Likey, no likey? Let me know your thoughts on my first ever OOTW post. I may start doing monthly ones as I really enjoyed creating this blog post for you guys. Let me know.

What was your favourite outfit of mine this week? I would love to hear them in the comments. My sister kindly photographed all my outfits for me and her favourite was Sunday’s outfit (she also just started her own blog, lifestyle and travel, if you’re interested, click here)

until next time,

xoxo, rachel

All About The Magic | Sitting In The Clouds

2 weeks doesn’t seem like a long time but it is…it feels so weird, but a weird good, to be blogging again.

Welcome Back!!! Miss me? Yes, thought you might have ;). Well… I’m officially depressed. Yes, I have severe Disney blues. Disney is literally the worst place to leave. It’s like finishing an amazing book and realising your life isn’t actually like the story at all and reality hits you harder than ever.

This Disney vacation…still have all the american vocab in my dictionary, was the best I’ve ever been on and that’s saying something because I’ve been on A LOT! Spending two weeks with Tom and the rest of my family was amazing. I created so many magical moments that I will cherish forever and I can’t wait to share them with you.

(I started talking about each picture but realised it was going to be one hell of a long blog post so I’ve decided to just upload a ton of photos and if you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments below. So enjoy the pics, they are in no particular order! )

On the Magical Express
First day and raring to go
Our colourful Magic Bands
My favourite character with a beautiful backdrop
Afternoon in the pool because it felt like 41 degrees…literally
He came home with me

My boyfriend is too cute
My dad said and I quote…”you can’t not have a funny selfie with your dad”
Our main purpose for a visit to Universal was to go to Harry Potter world and it was amazing!!
At the train station in Hogsmede

Selfie with the Hogwarts train conductor

Back in the Magic Kingdom and another sign my boyfriend is too cute, when he ordered our Starbucks he got the worker to write “Minnie and Mickey” on our cups rather than our names!!
Just had to take a selfie with them
The Move It, Shake It, Dance and Play it Street Party parade
Under the Epcot ball
You can’t not go to Florida in hurricane season and not expect rain. We had a fair bit because we had a tropical storm pass through near the end of the holiday.
A hotel selfie before jam packing our second to last day full of fun!
Celebrating my sisters 22nd birthday in the Magic Kingdom. We headed straight to her favourite ride…Splash Mountain.
Some poolside fun in the sun
Typhoon Lagoon
When the opportunity arises, you can’t not meet your favourite character, no matter how many times that may be.

The final evening we decided to dress up smart(ish)
Love this pic!
Tom was meant to pull a disgusted face as a reaction to me kissing Mickeys cheek but he forgot…typical!! I still love this picture though!
The first ride of every Disney holiday. It’s a tradition
The classic Disney pose
It’s like hugging a marshmallow
Screaming on Rock ‘n’ Roll
The aftermath of Rock ‘n’ Roll
My sister and I left a legacy at Epcot 10 years ago and each time we go to Disney we visit it and get a picture by it.
It was Toms idea but I’m so glad we have a picture like this that we can now cherish forever as a memory of our first trip together
This is just a cute picture in general
The difference on my and Toms faces whilst riding Buzz..haha!! His concentration is too cute!
Tom decided to show Mickey Mouse his Mickey Mouse tattoo and his reaction was priceless!! I have it all on video and if I ever loose that footage, I would cry!
Pluto gives the best hugs!
Toms favourite movie is The Lion King and favourite character is Simba so we couldn’t leave without getting this photo done.
A selfie on the last day.

So that’s just a small amount of the pictures that I took this holiday because if I showed all of them to you, we would literally be here for hours. I’m currently working on a holiday montage video which should be completed soon but if you would like to see that, let me know and I will be sure to post it on my blog.

Thanks so much for reading and supporting my blog whilst I’ve been away. I didn’t realise I would get that much traffic while I was absent. It feels amazing to know that even when I don’t blog my content is still being found and appreciated.

If you enjoyed this post and would like to see any more Disney related blog posts, please like this post to let me know and leave comments of your suggestions as well as any questions you may have.

until next time,

Holiday TBR (+ Currently Reading) | Sitting In The Clouds

Welcome Back!!! As you may know if you’ve been following my blog a while, is that I’m off to Disney on Monday and like I’ve said a billion and one times… I can not wait!!! Although Disney is a very active holiday with little proper relaxing involved, I still want to take a few books with me incase the chance arises where I can read for a little bit.

Holiday TBR:

1- Order of the Phoenix by J.K.RowlingYes, I know what you’re thinking…such a big book for a holiday where you won’t be reading much at all? But I started this yesterday because I felt like picking it up and now I don’t want to leave it behind, so it’s coming with me. I doubt I’ll read much of it but who knows.
2- Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan MatsonThis is my book for the plane (check out the rest of the things I’ve taking in my plane bag here). I’m hoping to start and finish it on the 8-hour flight.

The other two books are on my iPad. I have 20+ books on my iPad that I could choose from because I’m taking my iPad with me so I could pick any book from the range I have. However, the following two books are the books that are currently taking my fancy.

3 – Lemon Grove by Helen Walsh I have no idea what this book is about but the cover just screams summer and a perfect book to read by the pool.
4 – Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie PerkinsI know, I know, I still haven’t read this book but hopefully I will on holiday. I’ve just heard its the perfect summer contemporary and I’m a lover of a good fluffy romance.

Currently Reading:

1 – Order of Phoenix by J.K.RowlingLike I’ve mentioned above I just picked this one up. This is a reread for me. It’s the second time that I’m reading the Harry Potter series and although Order of the Phoenix is my least favourite book (of what I can remember), I’m still excited to jump back into the world after reading The Cursed Child (thoughts here)
2- More Than This by Patrick NessI want to say I started this book about 2 weeks ago and I remember absoultely loving this book at the start. The beginning really intrigued me and I was so excited about it as I really enjoyed “The Rest of Us Just Live Here”. However, now I’m about 150pages in and it’s gotten very slow and repetitive. It’d dragging me into a reading slump. I’ve kind of let this one go for a while.

Recently Finished:

1 – Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – You can hear my full thoughts here. I had some issues with it but overall I really enjoyed it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
2- Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find ThemThis was the first time that I read one of the Hogwarts Library books and I adored it. You wouldn’t think a list of mystical animals would be an enjoyable read but it really was. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

There we have it. I really don’t think I will get any reading done on holiday apart from on the plane there and back but it’s always nice to take a few books just in case. Therefore I think 4 books will be plenty for me.

What are you currently reading? What have you recently finished? Let me know in the comments.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel
