Pink Pinafore | OOTD | Sitting In The Clouds

Weekends are for relaxing, eating and watching netflix and although I haven’t binged watched netflix in a while, I did have a lovely weekend spent relaxing and eating, along with kicking my a** back in action for my blog (oh how I love my new blog design). On Sunday I went for a pub lunch with my family and met up with my dad’s sister and her family, so my auntie, uncle and cousins. You can’t say no to free food can you? And since the UK is having another mini heatwave, it was definitely not the weather for jeans, even though they have been my go-to recently, in other words I have been super lazy. Throw on a t-shirt and jeans and I’m out the door.

Pinafore | Primark
T-Shirt | Monki

Choker | Forever 21
Shoes | Vans

This outfit is so simple, yet because the pinafore is a pink corduroy material, it just adds something different to the look. Primark have some really good stuff in stock at the minute but I find that if you don’t pick it up as soon as you see it, it’s gone forever. It’s happened to me a couple of times and it’s so disappointing when you can never find the item you have been pining over for so long. Therefore I picked up this pinafore as soon as I saw it, having no idea how to style it. I’m so pleased with how this outfit came out.

The pub lunch was lovely, especially their twist on the Knickerbocker glory desert, and it was lovely catching up with family. We even had a few cocktails in the pub garden afterwards as it was such a lovely evening. However, I was the designated driver so only one Archers and lemonade for me, my go-to mixer.

I really hope this weather lasts through-out the summer as it’s turning out to be a great uni break at the minute. How did you spend your weekend? Let’s chat in the comments.

until next time,
xoxo, rachel

Day Trip To Kew Gardens (+OOTD) | Tea Talk #7 | Sitting In The Clouds

It hit 23 degrees today in London…aka flipping boiling for the UK. The sunglasses came out, as well as the suncream. Ice cream vans music played and it truly felt like summer. My mum and I took advantage of this lovely weather as living in the UK you never know when the glorious weather will go into hiding and winter will be upon us once again, by visiting Kew Gardens.

For university I have to create a poster advertising Kew Gardens so the main focus of the trip was to get inspiration for my design. However, I’m also taking a photography class this semester so it was a great location to practice my photography. Even though this trip was primarily for university, it turned into a lovely mother, daughter day. We had a lovely lunch, sitting back and enjoying the sun. We of course stopped off in Starbucks and picked up some refreshing drinks to combat the heat and just had a lovely bonding session.

Please bare in mind I’m still learning the basics of photography and I have a long way to go.

Out of over 100 photos taken those are my three favourites. I just love doing depth of field photos.

While having a nice stroll and not following the map we came across this bear that had been carved out of an old tree stump and I think I’m going to be basing my poster off this as it’s so unique.

WARNING! Today wasn’t the day for skinny jeans but nevertheless I really liked the outfit I chose, it had a very summery vibe. I chose my really comfy shoes, my Ugg Treadlites as I knew today was a day of walking and of course a pair of sunglasses.

Top: Topshop
Jeans: Topshop Joni Jeans
Shoes: Uggs
Sunglasses: Primark

I did bring a leather jacket as we headed out of the house at around 9:30 in the morning but I took it off as soon as we got to the gardens and didn’t wear it once after.

Today was so much fun and the weather was just fantastic. If you enjoyed this type of blog post let me know by liking and commenting so I know whether to do similar in the future. I would also love your opinion on whether you would want me to include more of my graphic design and photography projects on my blog? Let’s chat in the comments.

If you are based in the UK, I hope you had a lovely weekend enjoying the sunshine and making the most of it.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel

Spring and Simple | OOTD | Sitting In The Clouds

I’m not the most knowledgable person on this planet about fashion, the trends or what’s hot right now. I’d rather spend my money on makeup, books and video games than clothes. Most of the time I throw on a pair of jeans, a graphic tee, my go-to pair of uggs and head out the door. But on occasion I do like the spend some time going through my wardrobe and carefully pick out an outfit for the day.

However, I find it more difficult than usual if we are in those transition months, it’s not warm enough yet to go out without a coat but it is warm enough to wear some lighter pieces. So it’s a struggle for us girls to know exactly what to wear in spring season, especially if you’re like me and based in the UK.

Yesterday the sun was shining, which for me is very deceiving most of the time as you believe it’s going to be warm but most of the time it’s not. However it is spring so I wanted to start pulling some of my more spring/summer pieces out. I adore this jumpsuit but it’s definitely more suited for the summer months. However with some layering I made it more Spring appropriate.

Pairing the jumpsuit with some black tights and a simple black tee underneath allows an extra layer for when it’s a little more chilly outside than you expected. Throwing on a leather jacket, which aren’t the warmest coats in the world, also adds a different texture to the outfit…not necessarily a piece of clothing I would choose to keep me warm but it’s an iconic style piece that everyone should own. It in particular makes this outfit more “edgy”.

Necklace – Walt Disney World

I wore this outfit yesterday to see my boyfriend. We ended up having a mini spontaneous day date to Nandos and then to the pub for some drinks to watch Man City V Arsenal. It was the perfect outfit as I didn’t feel too overdressed but also looked like I put in some effort when all I did was put a one piece on and add a few accessories.

I really liked how this outfit came together in the end and I’m excited to try more outfits similar in the future. I just need some spare cash in my purse to buy some new wardrobe pieces…student life.

I hope you enjoyed it and let me know what you think.

Cute and Cosy | OOTD | Sitting In The Clouds

Welcome Back!!! Yesterday I went out to meet my boyfriend when he was on his lunch break at work and also grab my first festive drink of the season. I imagined this really cute outfit to wear and when I actually put it together from the clothes I owned and looked in the mirror, I fell in love with it so I knew I had to share it with you guys.

Top – Primark
Skirt – New Look
Jacket – Primark

Shoes – New Look

My socks peeping through are my Harry Potter, Slytherin ones. I’m a Hufflepuff at heart though.

Eyes – Morphe 35T palette (first impressions here)
Lips – Revlon Colour Burst in 044 (Sunbaked Baigne)

This outfit defiantly represents my girly side and I’m in love with it. I love the use of colours in this outfit as I’m usually the basic girl of black, white and grey outfits but yesterday I loved the colour combo of maroon and a deep blue/green which both scream autumn to me. You could defiantly dress up this outfit with pairing a leather jacket and a nice pair of heeled booties. However, I went for the casual look and this outfit is actually super cosy and warm. I didn’t feel the chill once when I was out yesterday. I’m defiantly going to be wearing this outfit through-out the winter season now.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel

P.S. I love autumn and winter fashion so I’m hoping to get some more OOTD posts up for you over the next couple of months.

Starting Uni + A Blogging Schedule | Tea Talk #1 | Sitting In The Clouds

[tea talk – a new segment on my blog where I ramble about the goings on in my life while sometimes drinking my favourite drink…tea]

Welcome Back!!! But more importantly welcome to my first ever “tea talk”. When I first started my blog I told myself to make it 100% me and if you personally know me, you’ll know that I tend to ramble a lot so I thought I’d start a segment on my blog where I’m free to ramble as much as I want.

If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know October is the month I start uni which is still something I am trying to fathom. I haven’t been in education for a while as I took a gap year so getting back into a classroom will be a very strange moment for me, I’m nervous and excited at the same time. I’ve only had my induction so far, I start properly on Tuesday [18th] which I don’t think will be as nerve-racking as the induction was, purely because I find meeting new people terrifying but I’ve overcome that hurdle already and met some amazing people during induction.

Induction Day was your same old, health and safety talks, everyone throwing information at you that you won’t remember or likely care about and learning more about your course. I found out that I only have 7 people in my course which is a good thing, I think? More one on one time with tutors is all I’m thinking. But out of the 7 people, I’m the only one situated near London which is crazy and awesome at the same time. On my course there are people from Sweden, Morocco, France, it’s pretty amazing and so diverse. As for my course, I can’t wait to get started and learn more about the Graphic Design industry. If you didn’t know I’ll be studying Graphic Design and Visual Communication for the next three years…starting on Tuesday.

The most exciting thing about Induction, apart from wearing my brand new outfit, was finding out my timetable and what days I’ll be in uni because once you get to higher education, full time pretty much means 3 days a week. I’ll be in uni Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays so let’s all cheer for the fact I’ll now have 4 days weekends…whoop!!! I was praying for Mondays and Fridays off and I guess someone up above heard me.

This was the outfit I wore on the Induction day. I wanted to confident and comfortable at the same time. My go-to outfit will always be jeans with a graphic tee, I just decided to spice things up with some ripped jeans. I still can’t believe the jacket is from Primark, it was only £18 and it’s so warm and so nicely made.

Jacket: Primark
Top: Primark
Jeans: Topshop [Ripped Joni Jeans]
Shoes: New Look

So now I have a uni timetable, I thought it was about time to also get my blogging schedule in check. I started this blog in May and from the beginning I’ve never really had a set day/s to upload, I just posted when I felt like it but did try and upload every other day which has been working fine but now I feel like it would be better to get a blogging schedule sorted just so I can balance uni, blogging and my social life a little easier.

I really want to try and upload three times a week which I know won’t always happen because life gets in the way but three times a week would make me very happy. Those three days will be….

Monday | Friday | Sunday

I was planning on having a specific topic up on each day, i.e. Mondays would be a lifestyle related post but then I thought that, that was a little too much structure for me. I like to plan but I also find that sometimes too much planning can cause blogging slumps because I’m forcing myself to write about something I may not want to write about on the specific day. So therefore, I’m just going to post what I feel like on those three days a week and try my best to make it varied but some weeks I may post 2 lifestyle related posts and 1 book blog post without even thinking about beauty. But I’d rather that than not posting anything at all just because I don’t want to post what I set myself.

It may take me a while to get this blogging schedule and structure under way but once I do, I know it will only benefit me. Just don’t expect the new blogging schudule to kick in straight away.

My life is about to get hectic and I’ll be updating my blog on it so get ready or the ride. I don’t think I’m prepared for uni life but all I can do is jump in with feet and make the most of it as I’ve grown up realising that you get out what you put in to things. Hard work pays off. I’m hoping my blog won’t suffer too much with the adaption of me going to uni but I’m sorry if it does. I adore blogging and being able to chat with you all so if some weeks I can’t post, be sure to keep up to date with my whereabouts on Twitter and Instagram, where I would also love a chat. And that to be honest wraps up the end of my first ever #teatalks.

Let me know what you guys think 1) of my new blogging schedule and 2) of #teatalks and if you enjoy it. Would you like to see more? If yes, leave your suggestions in the comments for improvements.

Thanks for  reading and if you stuck out the first ever tea talks, congrats!! Thanks for sticking by me and heres to a new chapter in my life [heres to uni life] and blogging schedule I can hopefully stick to.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel

Fall Favourites Tag | 2016 | Sitting In The Clouds

Welcome Back!!! I can safely say Autumn is upon us purely because I went shopping yesterday for my autumn wardrobe and I can safely say my wallet took a massive blow…opsie!! [expect to see a huge ass haul soon]. I got tagged by Amelia from Rosetintedpics to do this tag. You should all go say hi and follow her because not only does she have an amazing blog, she’s such a lovely person. With all that said, let’s just get into it…

Favourite Candle: I’m probably the only girl out there that doesn’t burn candles. Since I still live at home and my mum isn’t a fan of them, I tend to just stay away and not really buy them. Maybe one day I’ll get into the whole candle thing but not right now.

Favourite Lip Product: It has to be Mac’s Velvet Teddy, not only is it a super gorgeous nude colour, perfect for autumn and all year round, it’s also the only lip product I tend to wear…apart from lip balm. I’m not a huge fan of lipsticks to be honest, I just can’t be bothered to keep it topped up through-out the day, that’s waaaaay too much effort for me.

Favourite Nail Polish: [You’ll probably see a recurring theme in this tag] Of course I love beauty and makeup and clothes, doesn’t every girl? But like some people, I also bite my nails meaning I don’t tend to wear nail polish. I have a small collection for when I have mini phases but overall, painting my nails isn’t something I put aside time to do…I don’t have that much patience. However, if I ever decide to wear nail polish my go-to is Essies Eternal Optimist, a beautiful pinky nude shade.

Favourite Trendy Clothing Item: Surprise surprise, I don’t stick to the trends. I have no idea what is trendy at the moment but the clothes that are are calling my name at the moment are cute cosy jumpers, ankle boots and bomber jackets. [I’ll be doing a “OOTW: First Week At Uni, so keep your eyes peeled]

img_0205[new bomber jacket I got yesterday from Primark, I’m in love already]

Favourite Comfy Clothing Item: [read above] I can’t wait to get my Parker jacket out of the wardrobe, it just keeps me so warm and cosy in the colder months.

img_1128[Parker Jacket – Pull & Bear]

Favourite Shoes: For Autumn it’s defiantly got to be a good old pair of boots. Whether that’s some heeled ankle booties or some comfy cosy UGGS.

img_1126[New Look]img_0987-edit1.jpg[Classic Mini Uggs, Chocolate]

Favourite Accessory: This is a very recent obsession of mine but the necklace I got in WDW is now a staple in my everyday outfits. I don’t think, since getting it, I’ve left the house without it. I never used to be a necklace wearer but this piece of jewellery sums me up so much my neck now feels bare without it. I also love beanie hats for this time of year but who doesn’t?!

Halloween or Thanksgiving?  Can I say neither? I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving as I’m English, although I think the idea of the day is great. And halloween…I’ve never been a huge fan of it. I’ve just sometimes get swept up into by going to house parties but I’m never keen.

Favourite Drink: I’ve been LOVING green tea at the moment. I love a good old cup of English Breakfast tea but for some reason lately I’ve been opting for green tea more often.

What’s the happiest part of Fall for YOU? This may be basic and boring but the simple idea of just throwing on your favourite jumper and jeans, put a beanie on if you’re having a bag hair day and you’re ready to leave the house. I find dressing for autumn/winter a lot easier than in the summer, especially because my style is defiantly more suited for the fall/winter months.

FRIENDSFEST 2016 | Sitting In The Clouds

Welcome Back!!! Right when I began my journey of “Sitting In The Clouds”, I rambled on in my “Fairytales Do Exist” post about the two loves in my life. One of course being Disney and the other one being FRIENDS. On Sunday my dream of visiting the Friends set came true.

In 2015, FriendsFest was announced for the first time. Tickets were cheap, tickets sold quickly but I was one of the lucky few that I was able to attend an event all about Friends for one time only to celebrate their 21st anniversary. Little did people know how big of a success it would be. So early 2016, FriendsFest announced it was coming back but BIGGER and BETTER than previous year. More venues, more tickets. I was once again lucky enough to get some for FriendsFest 2.0, one for myself and one for Tom, who is also a major Friends fan.

So here’s what we got up to this past Sunday exploring FriendsFest….

Our first stop was of course the one and only Central Perk, one of the most iconic sets from Friends, apart from Monica and Rachel’s apartment, which we’ll get to later. Unfortunately you couldn’t actually buy coffee there but you could get behind the coffee bar, sit down on the famous orange couch and get up and play guitar.

2016_September_FriendsFest_Central Perk_11.jpg

2016_September_FriendsFest_Central Perk_17.JPG

We then decided to stop off at the Chick and the Duck bar for some yummy yet very expensive cocktails. I love how each cocktail was named after something iconic in FRIENDS. Tom went for the “Bing-a-ling” and I opted for “The Geller Cup”. Both were very delicious….and very strong!

(We’re lucky the weather stayed dry for us as the event was held in a big open field with only the sets under shelter)

Next stop, Joey and Chandlers apartment, which was on a whole other level compared to last year.

And no, Tom wasn’t bored, he’s just mimicking the face Chandler pulls in the episode where him and Joey get robbed and they are only left with a canoe.

As I was expecting, all the food, drink and merch they had on offer was really overpriced so we didn’t end up eating at the Moondance Diner where Monica worked for a while on the show but that didn’t stop us taking pictures by the sign.

Where do you want to go next? Why not let Phoebe’s taxi take you. I wish you could have got in the actual taxi but unfortunately you couldn’t so sitting on the bumper will just have to do.

I love this picture so much.

We were then ready to switch roles for a while. I think that “Bing-a-ling” cocktail went to Tom’s head. We visited Ross’ and Rachel’s Love Chapel from the Vegas episode and Tom wore the wedding dress. He looks kind of dashing don’t you think?

FriendsFest also had a silent disco tent which was decorated like the New Years Eve episode where Ross and Monica do the routine.

And finally it was time to take a look inside Monica and Rachel’s apartment. This was the main event of FriendsFest so therefore you had to buy separate tickets with a specific time slot. Of course you had to queue up but before seeing the set, you had a photo op with the orange couch…once again, with umbrellas and the New York background, recreating the title screen from Friends.

Stalking Ugly Naked Guy…he hasn’t changed much from last year.

“Richard if you’re in there, could I have my credit card back?”

“Monica bang, Rachel bang, Rachel bang, everybody bang”

The iconic door… don’t make us leave just yet.

Before we left, we had to visit the very tiny merchandise store. I of course had to buy something so I got the official FRIENDSFEST hoodie and as did Tom. I also got a Friends travel mug for uni…that’s how I justified the purchase anyway.

FRIENDSFEST thank you for being amazing once again and I hope to see you again next year. Please please please host one again next year, it needs to become an annual event.

Did you go to FriendsFest this year? What was your experience like? Let me know.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel
