30 Before 30 | Sitting In The Clouds

I recently turned 20 and it occurred to me how little I’ve done with my life so far and how much I want to achieve. My little head is full of dreams and aspirations and even though I’m not even near my half way mark on my life, I’m starting to panic. By the time I’m 30, I want to feel stable and happy with my life. That’s far from where I am right now.  I shouldn’t really be worrying at all, 10 years is a long time. I can barely remember turning 10 and in those ten years, I finished full time education, begun and ended teenage hood, learnt to drive, been to Disney countless times, had a 4 year long relationship, made and lost friends, brought my first lottery ticket, celebrated Christmas ten times, changed so much as a person and done things I can’t even remember. I don’t think my 10 year old self wouldn’t recognise me right now. But being the list maker, planner junkie and organiser that I am, I’ve created a list of 30 things I want to do before I turn the big 3-0!

>1 Participate in the Disney Cultural Exchange Program
>2 Have a Degree
>3 Explore Australia & New Zealand
>4 Get Married
>5 Start a Family
>6 Work for Disney (HQ in Hammersmith)
>7 Help Rays of Sunshine grant a wish
>8 Do a Professional Internship at Disney (Burbank, Florida)
>9 See my designs somewhere in the public eye
>10 Meet my Kiwi friend
>11 Have a home library and office (aka own a house)
>12 Visit every Disney resort, including California, Shanghai, Tokyo, Paris, Orlando and Hong Kong
>13 Have a fitness routine I love and stick to
>14 Learn how to do a french plait
>15 Have my first nightclub experience (yes, I’m 20 and haven’t actually been on a proper night out)
>16 Own something designer (a handbag or a high end makeup product)
>
17 Meet at least one more actor from FRIENDS (I have met Matthew Perry)
>18 Have a stayaction in Brighton
>19 Go to a restaurant and only order dessert
>20 Go to a cinema and see the next film showing
>21 Celebrate a birthday aboard
>22 Own a dog (preferably a German Shephard)
>23 Have a “well stocked” savings account
>24 Continue bullet journalling and own all the different Leuchtturm1917 coloured notebooks.
>25 Own a vintage style polaroid
>26 Make sure I continually keep in contact with my three closest friends
>27 Keep up with my blog and have a custom domain name
>28 Enjoy a Disney cruise (stopping at their private island)
>29 Do some freelance graphic design work
>30 Stay in a treehouse villa

This list may be overly ambitious but it could be achievable. I guess I’ll find out in 10 years. If I have completed all these dreams of mine, I’ll be a very happy 30 year old and I won’t be worrying on my 30th birthday, much like Rachel Green or Joey Tribbiani from FRIENDS did….“Why God Why?! We had a deal, let the others grow old, not me!”

What’s on the top of your bucket list? Let’s chat in the comments.

until next time,

5 Things I Want To Do This Festive Season | Sitting In The Clouds

TWITTER | INSTAGRAM

Welcome Back!!! Today was my last day of university before Christmas which means I’ve officially finished my first semester. I know everyone says that your uni days fly by in a blur but that’s a massive understatement. I remember my induction day so clearly that I can’t believe I’ve finished a whole term already. I’m loving every minute, of course it has it’s moments of stress and hardship but every part of your life has that at some point or another. But because uni has been so full on, for the first time in my life December hasn’t felt very Christmassy to me. It’s just been filled with assignments and deadlines and in my spare time I’m working to earn money and keep my head above water. I’m literally like a duck, calm and collective on the surface but paddling like crazy underneath. So now I’m officially on Christmas break for about a month, I thought I’d come up with a list of things I want to do to get into the festive season…finally!

Have a Christmas movie daystock up on all your favourite festive treats, put on your favourite onesie, make yourself a hot chocolate, grab a blanket and snuggle up on the sofa for an entire day to binge watch all the Christmas classics.

I’ve watched very few Christmas films this year which is so bad for me as I usually start watching them in about October/November. I really need a catch up and I think it would be a perfect Christmassy day to put all my fairy lights on and get comfy on the sofa and watch all my favourite Christmas films.

Read a festive book…I‘m an avid reader yet I never really read books relating to each season  we are in.

Books, especially contemporaries, give me all the feels so a Christmas/wintery read book that I can snuggle up with on a cold December night (totally copied that from a Christmas song..haha) would be perfect to get me in the festive spirit. And since uni has been full on, reading has unfortunately taken a back seat so I’m hoping through-out Christmas break I can get a lot of reading done.

Make a Gingerbread Housedo you want to build a snowman? No, but I do want to build a gingerbread house.

Making a gingerbread house has been a family tradition for a few years now, last year even a dinosaur featured. We just go crazy with decoration and sweets and this year we are combining the classic Christmas cake and our gingerbread house to make an epic Christmas dessert. I think it’s going to be three storeys high, it’s going to be EPIC! We blast Christmas music and just have fun and it’s definitely an activity that gets me in the Christmas spirit.

Have Hot Chocolatenot just any old hot chocolate but the hot chocolate you make with a pan over the stove.

I LOVE hot chocolate and HATE coffee so hot chocolate has always been my go to drink in coffee shops. I sometimes make hot chocolate at home with the instant stuff but it’s never as good. However, I was making one the other day and came across a tub of hot chocolate powder in my cupboard which said for best results to make it over the stove. I’ve always known that some people make hot chocolate this way but I personally never have. I think it would be fun to try and if I get whipped cream and marshmallows and all the added extras…maybe even a flake, it is Christmas after all, then maybe I could compete with the coffee shops festive drinks.

Go to Winter Wonderlandthe massive fun fair in Hyde Park.

Seeing as I live so close to London I find it strange how I have never experienced the magic of Winter Wonderland and apparently this year they have gone above and beyond any other year and it’s meant to be incredible. I really want to go and see what all the fuss is about. I know it’s around for a couple weeks in January but I think going before Christmas will make it that much more magical and festive. Maybe I can drag Tom along with me?

Surely I can get those five things done in the next couple of weeks? I’m so excited to be on Christmas holidays and finally having a break from uni. Christmas is truly my favourite time of year and I can’t believe Christmas is NEXT SUNDAY!!!! Like what?! Blown mind, the countdown is going way too quickly for my liking.

Are you on Christmas break yet? What plans have you got to help get yourself in the Christmas spirit? Let’s chat in the comments.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel

Say YES To Life | Sitting In The Clouds

GoalWithoutPlan.jpg

Welcome Back!! We all have those dreams that we make in our heads about how we want to travel the world, ride elephants, drive fast cars, jump from planes but how many of us actually go out of our daily routines of getting up, going to school/work, getting home and sleeping to actually make those dreams a reality? Because at the end of the day a goal without a plan is just a wish. You need to make things happen for yourself in this world, nothing comes to people who sit around waiting for their moments to come to them…go out and grab them yourself. You only have one life, make the most of it. Say yes to opportunities, say yes to adventure….say yes to life!!

Shannon from Captivated By Fantasy tagged me in the Bucket List tag, where you share 10 things that are on your bucket list. 10 things you want to achieve in your life. 10 things you didn’t say “oh I wish I did that” but 10 things you said “yeah I did that and it was f***ing awesome”.

So what 10 things do I want to say yes to?

  • I want to say yes to….working at Walt Disney Walt.
  • I want to say yes to…to venturing to New Zealand and Australia.
  • I want to say yes to…volunteering at Rays of Sunshine.
  • I want to say yes to…getting married in Walt Disney World.
  • I want to say yes to…owning a German Shepard.
  • I want to say yes to…meeting all the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. cast (I met Matthew Perry in February of this year…1 down, 5 to go)
  • I want to say yes to…meeting Shay Carl…and the rest of the Shaytards if the opportunity arises.
  • I want to say yes to…being spontaneous and going to Disneyland Paris for a day.
  • I want to say yes to…sleeping under the stars.
  • I want to say yes to….LIFE!!!!

I’m only 18 years old but I know and understand how precious life is and how easily things can change. In October of 2015 my dad so very kindly gave me a kidney as for all my life I have been suffering with Chronic Kidney Disease and by October…it quickly turned to kidney failure meaning I needed a transplant. My dad not only gave me a gift of a working kidney but a gift of a second chance at life and I’m not going to let him down. I’m now going to go out there and chase my dreams and make everything on my never ending bucket list come true. So when I’m 80+ looking back on life…I smile because it happened, and I’m not upset because I regret not doing things I could have so easily done if I had just SAID YES!!

So there we have it, another blog post done and dusted. I hope you enjoyed it and if you did don’t be shy by saying yes to liking this post, it would mean the world.

What things do you want to say yes to? Leave them in the comments, I would love to hear them and maybe add some to my own bucket list.

And finally before I forget…I tag,

until next time…
