September Plan With Me | My Bujo | Sitting In The Clouds

How are we in September already? Do you realise it will be Christmas in 114 days. I’ll just let that sink in a for a minute. But with a new month means brand new bullet journal spreads and reflection on how the past month has gone.

August Review

August was the first month in my brand new bullet jounral (my brand new bullet jounraland it went so well. I really started to use my journal as a memory keep sake, including daily doodles as well as a “scrapbook style” page.

What Went Well?
> tracking seperate sleep related habits as part of my sleep tracker. I tracked habits such as, reading before bed, wearing my retainer and if I used my phone/laptop before sleeping.
> the stats section on my blog tracker page allowed me, at a glance to see how well my blog has been developing. Unfortuntely August was down in everything compared to July.
> my daily doodles
> tracking my water intake daily

What Could Have Worked Better?
> my mood tracker, although so pretty to look at, it’s not very pratical. I can’t easily see what mood I was feeling each day.
> I didn’t end up liking using a seperate colour each day for my habit tracker. It ended up being a bit too distracting and in September I have really simpified it.

Weekly Spreads

I really loved how my weekly spreads were coming out each week so I kept them all similar, just with sublte details changing. I love flipping through these spreads even after the week has passed just to admire my doodles and remember what the week entailed.

Scrapbooking

IMG_5432.jpg

This was my first ever attempt at scrapbooking in my bullet journal. I had one of the best weekends in August, not only because I got an interview for the Disney Cultural Exchange Program (I got the email) but I also went to Friendsfest, an event I look forward to each year and Tylan, a youtuber I mentioned in my 5 Youtubers You Should Be Watching blog post, noticed me and replied. He actually thanked me for feauting his wife and him in my blog post. I was truly in fan girling mode. Therefore with all that exciting stuff happening to me within the space of 72 hours, I had to remember it in all it’s glory.

I simply printed some pictures and wrote some text to go along with the images. It’s not the most perfect spread I’ve done but I’m happy I’ve started scrapbooking in my bullet journal and I definitely want to do more in the future.

September Spreads

IMG_5436

Septembers colour is purple but I find the Steadler fineliner in the dark purple is too dark so I decided to use both of the purples and I really like how the colour combo came out.

I’m using the same spread style as usual for my monthly spread. I’m a creature of habit so once I find something I love and works well for me, I tend to stick to it.

IMG_5438

I decided to switch up the overall font for this month and I absoutely love it. As you can see my spending tracker is exactly the same. This style works so well for me and I’m hestiate to try new ways of tracking my money. I’m also loving the ombre style my headers have.

IMG_5439

A new spread for me, the time log style spread. I have tried using a similar spread before but found I didn’t stick with it. I just found it too much effort. I’m trying something slighty different to see if I can stick with it this time but I still have a gut feeling that this spread just isn’t for me, but we’ll see.

My sleep tracker is fairly similar but with my new sleeping schedue of sleeping by 10 and up at 6, I feel like this spread will be really helpful this month. I have some new bed time related habits to track, ie up in the middle of the night and if tom is staying round. This month I also did little doodles to symbolize each habit and I love it.

IMG_5440

My final double page spread is my habit and mood tracker. I decided to put these two on the same page to see if there is any correlation between what habits I’m doing daily and my overal mood for that day. I also mentioned that last month I found my habit tracker too distracting with all the colours, so in September I made a grid and I will simply dot  the boxes of the habits I complete each day. I’m excited to see how it will turn out.

The mood tracker is the same style. I will simply place a dot next to a mood I was feeling that day. I have roughly done it from the best mood to the lowest mood as I want to then join the dots to make a line graph. My moods consist of, hyper, excited, happy, content, okay, meh, sad, cried, productive, stressed, annoyed and tired.

And finally, next weeks weekly spread. I’ve continued with the monthly colour theme for this week but I do like switching up the colours each week. It looks really plain at the beginning of the week but at the end of the week, it’s so busy and colourful due to all my doodles.

So that’s it. August is over and September has offically begun. I’m excited to play around with my new time log spread and to see whether it will work for me this time round. And just generally start a fresh month.

Do you have a bullet journal? What spreads are you using this month? Let’s chat in the comments.

until next time,

August Reading | 2017 | Sitting In The Clouds

This month I fell in love all over again with the “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” trilogy by Jenny Han. I knew I loved it but having never reread it, I always hestitated when saying it was one of my favourite series of all time. I decided to re-read the first two books so I could dive straight into the third and final book with everything fresh in my mind and OMG I utterly adore this series. I can now say with confidence that this series is one of my all time favourites.

august books

What I Read

> The Kiss of Deception by Mary E Pearson – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I finally decided to pick this book up after it having collected dust on my bookshelf since Christmas 2014 and I throughly enjoyed it. I’m now trapped in another series but luckily this is only one is only a trilogy. I’m excited to move on with the series and see where it goes.
> Armada by Ernest Cline – ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
I LOVED Ready Player One by Earnest Cline when I read it a few months ago so decided to try his other novel. Although not as good, I still enjoyed it. I just found Ready Player One to be near perfect so I kind of dissapointed that Armada wasn’t as strong as RPO.
> To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han (reread) – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What can I say? Lara Jean, the Song sisters, Peter. It’s a pefect combo and nothing is wrong with this novel. I utterly adore this series.
> P.S I Still Love You by Jenny Han (reread) – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
More and more gush about this series. AHHHHH!!! *heart eye emoji*
> Always and Forever Lara Jean by Jenny Han – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I just didn’t want this series to end. I cried my eyes out to the point of no return. This is the first EVER book I’ve full on cried at. I’ve welled up, maybe shed one tear but never full on crying. I can’t believe I won’t ever get to relive Lara Jean and Peters story for the first time. I can confidently now say it is one of my favourite series of all time. I was skeptical when Jenny Han announced a third book in the series but she wrapped up every character and the overall story perfectly. I couldn’t of asked for a better ending.

Monthly Reading Stats

monthly reading stats_august

5 books, 1,823 pages…not too shamby for me. Each month I aim to read four books, one book a week so I’ve succeeded my monthly target, and I’ve reread one of my favourite series so I call this month a success.

September, however, is my last full month I have to read before I start back at university for year 2 so fingers crossed for another great reading month. What did you read this month? Do we share a love of Lara Jean, Peter and the Song sisters? Let’s chat in the comments.

until next time,

FriendsFest 2017 (+OOTD)| Sitting In The Clouds

It’s that time of the year again….FRIENDSFEST! I’m a huge fan of Friends and although I don’t watch it as much as I used to or want to anymore, I still love it and everytime I do watch it, I fall in love with it all over again. Friends has gotten me through a lot in my life and I truly take Friends quotes, sayings, lessons on board and use them in my own life. Therefore when Friendsfest was annouced for a third year, I didn’t even hesitate in buying tickets.

Denim Jacket – H&M
Jeans – Primark
T-shirt – Topshop
Shoes – Custom Converse

I wanted to be comfy yet stylish with this outfit. I didn’t wear any Friends merch but brought the exclusive Friendsfest hoodie and t-shirt while I was there. I’m always most confident in a pair of really nice jeans but to give this outfit a twist I went with my pink jeans with rips at the knees. I simply tied a plain grey t-shirt into a front knot to add a little detail to a basic t-shirt and then threw on my go-to denim jacket. It’s a really simply outfit when you think about it, but it looks super cute and stylish when all the pieces are paired together.

Now time to enjoy all the snaps Tom and I got through-out the day. You will also be able to see how my outfit looks from different angles.

My parents ask if there’s any point going each year, surely it’s the same? Although the main sets and props are there, i.e. Monicas apartment, Phoebes taxi, Central Perk and the famous orange couch, it does differ each year. I believe it’s truly worth my time and my money each year as they add new things to the line up. This years new feature was a fully fledged set for Joey and Chandlers apartment, as well as the hallway between the two apartments. Huggies also hasn’t been there in previous years…it’s the little things. To my dissapointment though, the binoculars to stalk Ugly Naked Guy where attached to the the table this year, meaning I couldn’t get my picture. They also added a photo op where you could dress up as the characters from “the one with the Prom video”. Of course me and Tom did Ross and Rachel.

Overall it was another amazing experience and I will continue to go each year as long as it runs for. I can’t stop my streak now….3 years and counting.

Did you go to Friendsfest this year? Did you enjoy it? Let’s chat in the comments.

until next time,
xoxo, rachel

I Got THE Email | I Do Disney #2 | Sitting In The Clouds

I Do Disney #1

At the beginning of July, the 1st of July to be exact, I applied to take part in the Disney Cultural Exchange Program. Today, a month and a half after pressing the submit button, I received an email….

I’ve been invited to the pre-screen group interview. This is the first interview which you may be invited to. Unfortunately, if you don’t get an invitation to this interview your Disney journey has come to an end so you can imagine how happy I was when I saw “Congratulations” in my email inbox!

Screen Shot 2017-08-19 at 12.17.15.png

I’m an early riser so my alarm went off at 6am this morning. I started my usual morning routine, aka check every social media account I have. The last thing I check on my phone, before getting out of bed and starting my day, is my emails. That’s when I saw it. I squealed, got out of bed so quickly and didn’t even care if my parents weren’t awake, I knocked on their door. They were both kind of half asleep so I just said “I got an interview for Disney” and then they were both wide awake. We then spent the next hour in bed with cups of teas and just chatting about it all. I’m still trying to process it all to be honest. This has been a dream of mine since a very young age and I’ve known about this program for a good 5/6 years. Having been given the chance to show why I deserve a place on this program in person, rather than them just reading a few words I’ve written, means a whole deal. I will be a nervous wreck on the day but know I just need to be myself.

Until then though, it’s just more waiting. My interview is on the 26th of September so I have another month and a half to wait, but I know it will all be worth it. Plus, from applying to receiving the email, it wasn’t that long of a wait…okay maybe it was, but still.

I’m going to leave it here for now as I’ve posted it everywhere else, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, you name it, I’ve let the world know. If you have also received a pre-screen email, please let me know and we can chat about it. I would love to meet some people before the day.

until next time,
xoxo, rachel

5 Youtubers You Should Be Watching | Sitting In The Clouds

Youtube for me, and I’m sure you can also agree, is a very enjoyable pastime and one you can spend HOURS doing. But with such a huge library of creators, you will never be able to discover and watch them all. My current “watch-later” list is standing at over 100, but there are a select few content creators that I will automatically go to when I’m in need of a pick me up and an instant entertainment hit. Are you watching them? because you should be…

allie and tylan

adam hattansawyer hartmangiovanna fletcherjess coppergarden

I watch a variety of content on Youtube, to beauty gurus, fashionistas and family vloggers. Throw some Dinsey magic in the mix, along with baking gods, like Sorted Food and you’ve got yourself hours worth of watching. I hope I have given you a variety of creators, I tried to name some smaller ones you may not have heard of, that you can now fall in love with like me.

Who are your “go-to” Youtubers? I love finding Youtubers to watch, even if my “watch-later” list gets even longer. Let’s chat in the comments.

until next time,
xoxo, rachel
