Leaving Teen-hood | Sitting In The Clouds

Each year you get to celebrate the fact you are growing older, which really doesn’t sound that fun, but to be honest it really depends on the age you are turning. Kids love their birthday’s, most of them eager to age up another year to be able to act cooler, get permission to do more things, and just seem more grown up. I’m guilty of being one of “those” kids. But when you get to your adult years, birthdays become less and less welcoming. However, I see it like this…

“Age is merely the number of years the world has been enjoying you”

I recently turned 20, leaving my teenage years behind me and entering the real world of adulting. However, as each birthday comes and goes, I never feel older. I get asked my age and have to think about it a while before realising that, yes, in fact I am a year older. Nothing really changes except peoples expectations for you. I’m now 20 which kind of means I have to start taking responsibility for things. We’ll see about that. For my 20th birthday celebration this year, I rocked out to one of my favourite punk pop bands live, had a Stitch, yes from Lilo and Stitch, themed bbq and went book shopping. No afternoon tea, champagne and grown up talk just yet.

I had a great celebration into adulthood and a month later still don’t feel like an adult. Like Walt Disney once said, “adults are only kids grown up”. He was a man of many wise words but those ones speak to me more than ever. Age is merely a number, don’t let it stop you doing things you want to do. At 20, I had a Stitch themed party and don’t regret it one bit.

until next time,

Tea Talk #4 | The ULTIMATE Birthday Weekend | Sitting In The Clouds

Welcome Back!!! This past weekend was Tom’s, my incredible boyfriend’s, 21st birthday and I treated him to the ultimate weekend in London. It felt like a little holiday so it feels strange to be back home even though we were only away for one night. It was such an incredible weekend full of laughter, drinks and food and it’s time like these that I realise how truly lucky I am.

We started the weekend by getting the train into London, which doesn’t seem too bad but when you both have really heavy overnight bags, it felt so much worse than normal. At least we didn’t go in rush hour otherwise I would have not been able to cope. Anyway, we got the train all the way to South Kensington, where our hotel was situated for the night. We stayed in the Rembrandt and it was amazing, I recommend it if you are thinking of staying in London.

We got there for 12pm (midday) as that was our check-in time. However, because I had requested a particular room it wasn’t quite ready when we turned up which was fair enough so we look a seat in the lounge while we waited and grabbed a drink from the bar. However, it was getting close to 1pm, an hour after we had checked in, so I went to enquire as we had a lunch reservation at 2pm and we needed to get ready. The room I had requested still wasn’t ready so they offered us another room and gave us an upgrade to a “King Executive Room” as a sorry for making us wait, which was so nice of them as we weren’t annoyed about waiting but more of the fact we had dinner in an hour and we needed to make ourselves look presentable.

We then headed to our room, which was really nice and the bed was huge, it was a king, hence the name of the room. We quickly changed into our evening attire…I don’t think I’ve ever done my makeup so quickly and headed to our lunch/dinner reservation. My dad is the Executive Head Chef at Langan’s Brasserie in Green Park so months prior I got my dad to book us a table for Tom’s birthday weekend I was planning. Of course, because it was my dads restaurant, the food was incredible and he even organised Tom to get a little birthday dessert which I had no idea about which was lovely and a great surprise. Tom felt very special.

After all the food we were so stuffed but our evening was just getting started. As I’ve said countless times on my blog now, Tom is an aspiring actor and his favourite musical is Jersey Boys and when I heard it was closing in March I knew I had to get him tickets to see it again. However, I was sneaky. Tom once mentioned that he believes the best seats for musicals are in the Stalls, row D, seats 13/14 because you are close enough to feel part of the show, far enough away you aren’t cranking your neck and exactly in the middle, so of course those were the seats I got…well, close to, I got 12/13 because the others were sold already. But one seat out, I was very impressed with myself.

I had never seen Jersey Boys before and I now understand why Tom loves it so much. It is incredible and I can’t believe I’ve only just seen it because I don’t think I’ll have another chance to see it again before it closes which is such a shame. But Tom was correct with the seats, they were amazing and exactly how he said they would be. We were right there in the show but far enough away to appreciate everything and exactly in the middle. I can now appricate why those tickets were so expensive but it was worth it.

It was only around 10pm when the show had ended so the night was still young and Tom wanted to be awake for when the clock turned midnight as his birthday was the Sunday. It was completely up to him what we did as he was his birthday celebration and he opted for a drink in the hotel bar, which was fine by me, so that’s what we did.

Our original plan was to head to our favourite cocktail bar after the show but going back to the hotel and chilling in the bar, where you could actually hear each other talk and have a nice conversation and just chill on big comfy sofas ended up being so much nicer.

The clock turned 12 and it was officially Tom’s birthday and seeing as Tom is now 21 and getting old, we headed up to our room to get some sleep. However, the fun wasn’t over yet.  The offer I got for the hotel came with spa access and a full english breakfast. So on Saturday night we decided to arrange for our breakfast to come to the room so we could just chill in our pjs on the Sunday and Tom could open some cards and presents.

Room service arrived and it was amazing. Sausages, bacon, eggs, croissants, toast, pots of tea and those cute little sachets of Nutella. And once our food had settled, it was time to relax in the “spa”. I say “spa” because we didn’t get any treatments so it was basically just a hot tub and swimming pool and the pool had swimming lessons taking place so we just decided to chill in the hot tub for about half an hour before it was time to check out of the room.

This past weekend was incredible and I can’t believe it was only in London, it truly felt like we had gone abroad. Tom and I have only been going out 11 months, and although it feels like a lifetime…in a good way, we are still getting to know each other on so many different levels, so it was lovely to spend some proper quality time together after our hectic Christmas schedules with work and uni.

I will cherish the memories created this past weekend forever, as although it really hurt my bank balance, it was 100% worth every penny get to spend that time with someone I love and care about so much and allowed him to feel special and celebrate his birthday in such a wonderful way. He said it was the best birthday he’s ever had and I’m so happy I was able to make that happen for him. But seriously…21!!! Tom is OLD! Haha!

Thank you so much for reading and supporting my blog, I’ve been getting so much love in the way of likes, comments and follows recently that it’s making me so happy. I’m so glad you guys are enjoying my content and I hope you enjoy what’s to come.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel

P.S. I start uni again tomorrow so my schedule will be back to normal, Mondays, Fridays and Sundays so make sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date as that’s where I say if I’m not able to post some days and other blogging updates.

Manic May | Monthly Moments

Welcome Back!!! Today I’m going to share with you all the best moments I had in June. The month of May saw my first ever Monthly Moments blog post…right when I started my blog and it got a lot of love so I’d thought I’d do another one for the month of June.

Now, June wasn’t as busy as May in terms of events and activities I did but a lot of cool stuff still happened.

The major thing that happened in June was that I celebrated my 19th birthday. I absolutely love birthdays…especially my own. It was an amazing day spent with loved ones. I couldn’t ask for anything better.

I have a few blog posts dedicated to my birthday:

My birthday was amazing but I always suffer with birthday blues so when Tom Fletcher tweeted me happy birthday the day after I was so excited.

2016_June_Tom Fletcher.jpg

Not only did Tom Fletcher tweet me this month but Sketch…from Tattoo Fixers liked my tweet. I’m still a fangirl at heart so whenever someone well-known or famous recognises me I get a little happy to say the least.

June also saw me get out of a very long reading slump…thank god, I’ve missed the book community and reading in general. (You can see my June Wrap-Up & July TBR here)

Myself and Tom also went to see “X-Men: The Apocalypse” and “Mothers Day”. Anything with Jennifer Aniston in, I have see. X-Men was fantastic, both me and Tom found it throughly entertaining and although Mothers Day was good, it didn’t need to be 2 and 1/2 hours long.

June also saw me get into the university of my choice so I will be starting a brand new adventure this October and I couldn’t be more excited. If any of you are wondering, I will be studying Graphic Design and Visual Communication.

And finally the best thing to happen to me this month was Tom surprising me. Let me explain….he was on a course for work in London and I wasn’t expecting to see him until Thursday after he got back. Being in a  new relationship I missed him a lot…then he texted me this….

It was just like the movies… no joke. I looked out my bedroom window and Tom was standing there looking up, some may say it’s cheesy and a tad clique but my heart stopped, I literally couldn’t believe it. London isn’t too far from were I live but knowing that he went to the trouble to get home early for me made me feel so loved and happy. Yes my birthday was this month and that day was so special but Tom surprising me meant so much more.

Like I said, not a busy month of activities but a lot of great things happened to me this month and I’m feeling very blessed for everything in my life right now. I’m so excited to see what July brings and be sure to follow me so you never miss one of my adventures…I tend to share a lot on my blog.

What did you get up to in the month of June? I would love to know, leave a comment.

until next time…

This wonderful cake was made by my amazing mum. She’s actually a pastry chef so all her cakes are amazing. I’ve had some super impressive ones over the years but for my 19th I went for a chocolate everything.

Welcome Back!! I hope you all had a great weekend. I certainly did because…it was MA BIRTHDAY!!! Whoop! I’m finally 19 and in the last year of teenage hood…crazy stuff. But after every birthday comes the birthday blues and I absolutely hate it so this year I’m keeping my birthday alive for a tad longer with blog posts so keep your eyes peeled for more snaps of the day and of course my birthday haul.

But today let’s keep the magic of my birthday alive with showing you guys what I decided to wear on my special day….could you tell my birthday is my second favourite day of the year? after Christmas of course.

2016_June_19th Bday_Outfit 21

As you can tell by the gloom in the pictures and me modelling an umbrella it wasn’t the best morning weather wise when my boyfriend and I took these pictures but the sun did shine in the afternoon when my whole family came around for a bbq…the weather god must have known.

I decided to keep it simple with my makeup with my usual foundation routine (you can see what products I use on a day-to-day basis in my “How Much Is My Face Worth?” blog post) and for my eyes a matte brown in my crease and a champagne shimmer all over my lid.

The top I’m wearing was a birthday present I got from my mum and dad in the morning while I was drinking champagne and stuffing my face with sea salt and caramel truffles…they were heaven.

My top is from Zara.

Can I say just how much I appreciate my boyfriend taking these pictures for me as well as how flipping good he is at it. Okay, so now I’ve got that off my chest…my jeans are the classic Topshop Joni jeans. I love these jeans so much, they may not be so nice on my wallet but on me they are super comfy and I love how tight they are around my ankles…a pet peeve of mine is when jeans aren’t tight enough around my ankles.

My shoes are simple black pumps with gold detailing on the bow from Primark.

Jeans: Topshop

Shoes:  Primark

(Despite of the miserable morning I was still such a happy girl…why wouldn’t I’ve been? it was my birthday)

And at this point in taking pictures it wasn’t even raining anymore, I just adored this umbrella that I had to keep featuring it…just look at the detailing.

So that’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it and if you have any questions about my outfit pieces…or anything else for that matter, leave them down below and I’ll reply to you as best as I can. Thank you to those who wished me a happy birthday. I had a great day and I just want to relive it all over again. It was a perfect way to bring in my 19th year on this incredible earth.

until next time….
