Drugstore Haul | Sitting In The Clouds

Welcome Back!!! I know it’s a common fact that all students are poor and to be fair I’m quite wise when it comes to money. However, the government unfortunately doesn’t fund courses taught at the uni I attend so with full time uni and only a part time job, I’m very tight on money and will be for the next three years. But when your favourite makeup items are rolling low, you just have to restock, there’s no questions about it.

I was in desperate need of new concealer, new foundation, new shampoo and conditioner…basically every single one of my favourites, so I jumped straight into the Superdrug website and ordered everything I needed. I did have a  little browse while I was there and was so tempted to add some liquid lipsticks into my basket from Barry M and Makeup Revolution but I just couldn’t justify afford it…*cry face*.

I love Superdrug for makeup and I feel they do such an amazing range of makeup brands and because I’m a Superdrug member I get free delivery without having a minimum spend…win win!

Maybelline is one of my favourite drugstore brands, they do my favourite concealer, the Fit Me concealer, as well as my ALL TIME favourite mascara, the Lash Sensational LUSCIOUS, not the original one, although that one is good as well, I just personally prefer the effect on my eyelashes after using the Luscious with Oil Blend formula.

My all time favourite foundation, L’Oreal’s Infallible Matte foundation was out of stock…boo hoo!!! And I couldn’t wait for it be be restocked as I really needed a foundation and since Maybelline had a 3 for 2 offer running, I thought I’d try the Maybelline Fit Me foundation.

I’m hoping I really like this as I’ve heard some really good things about and since it’s in the same line as my favourite concealer, I’m hoping there won’t be too many differences to make me dislike it and love it just as much as the concealer.

I’ll let you know I get on, I’m even thinking about doing a first impression for this foundation.

I’ve been having real issue with my skin lately which I’m really irritated about as my skin has never been this bad before. Therefore, I repurchased a trusty product, the Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Exfoliating Wash. This product is a really gentle daily exfoliating wash, it really reduces my oil and makes my makeup last longer without primer as well as making my skin feel clean and fresh.

The last couple of products won’t be any surprise to you. I just had to repurchase my favourite hair duo, the Garnier Ulimate Blends shampoo and conditioner.

For the time being this hair duo is perfect for me. It smells incredible, it’s really affordable and it actually benefits my hair. I have a full length review about this amazing duo on my blog if you want to hear more. They also feature in about 4 of my empties posts, I just can’t get enough of the stuff.

I also decided to pick up another Batiste Dry Shampoo as although it’s not a necessity, it’s always nice to have a product like this for a day that you may need some extra volume or you skipped a “wash hair day” by accident. I just like having one around the house incase I’m in need.

I personally prefer the “divine dark” edition as with my super dark hair, I always find that the white powder is really hard to massage in completely and it’s just safer with brown powder incase I have missed a spot, it won’t look like I have severe dandruff.

So although you’ve probably seen all these products countless times on my blog before because all I did was repurchase my favourites, I hope you enjoyed the post nevertheless. But for a while now, I won’t be able to try many new products alongside my favourites as I just don’t have the money….MAJOR downside to uni/student life…ahah!

Thanks for reading and supporting my blog. I am so close to 700 WordPress followers which is super exciting, each and every one of you mean so much to me. I love chatting to you guys in the comments, so let me know if you’ve tried any of the products I’ve mentioned and if you love or hate them.

until next time,

xoxo, rachel

  1. Would love to know how you like the foundation! I’ve been thinking about trying it myself, I’ve seen many people who love it… I always use Batiste dry shampoos, I usually use the lighter shade though, the brunette one, I forget what it’s called, but it also has a brown tint to it, although my hair isn’t as dark as it used to be so I can even handle the white stuff now!

    1. On my third day of using the foundation and so far it’s performing good, going to test it out for a bit longer and do a full review I think as I believe it’s on a lot of people’s radar at the minute. I think I still prefer the L’Oréal Infallible matte though, but will have to see 🌸

      1. I’m on the lookout for a good matte foundation for a decent price, would you perhaps consider doing a comparison of the two? I’m not sure I can get both in my country, but if not I should be able to get them when I go to England haha 😀

      2. I kept waiting for your review of the foundation but since I haven’t seen it yet I got impatient and purchased it myself today 😛 I found the loreal one you mentioned too, and I sampled both, but that one felt thinner / runnier on my face, so I decided to try the maybelline one first and see if I like it – if not, I’ll definitely try the loreal one! 😀

  2. Great reviews, Rachel! 😀 I found your awesome blog through Natalie (The Pixie Dusted Disney Freak).
I also love L’Oreal’s products (especially their lipsticks), Simple’s skincare line (I use their micellar water everyday), and Garnier’s hair and skin line (two words: Cleansing Oil. Try it. Total game changer when it comes to cleaning and hydrating your face).
I tried Maybelline’s Fit Me foundation in the past and didn’t care for it…I have sensitive/combination skin, though, so I’m pretty picky when it comes to foundation so my skin stays healthy and clear. Hopefully, this foundation will work well enough for you until you can get L’Oreal’s Infallible Matte foundation in-stock again 🙂
I can’t wait to read more from you ❤

    1. OMG thank you so much!! Never had such a long comment, so good!! I will try it thank you!! I love the hair oil from garnier as well, that’s amazing! The foundation is working okay, still think I prefer the L’Oréal one so think I’ll be picking up another one soon. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you as it’s my favourite of all time! I do love the bourjois healthy mix foundation which is really hydrating so I recommend that as well xx
